You are essentially exchanging hot dry air for cooler moist air so if you live in an area with higher humidity levels (generally SE USA), the effectiveness will be diminished. Truth is, a lot of this type of functionality can actually be duplicated simply by draping a wet towel over a cheap standard fan and saving the cash difference for when when you need to power a true air conditioner on those unbearably hotter days.
