Whynter SNO 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner Review
Whynter SNO 12,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner Review from Charlotte Ann Hu. Bad Customer Service, Faulty LED Panel, This item is light and easy to move, has certain advantages on older models at our home in that it has a temperature control and adjusts according to ambient temperature. These features are great.
However, we bought an energy savers electricity tester and plugged in this unit and a range of other small appliances at the house. In heater mode, this unit used 1.13 kilowatts in an hour. Other oil heaters we have ranged from .6 to 1.16. I wasn’t shocked that the oil heaters used so much energy, but I was surprised that this item, which includes energy efficiency as a selling point, but has the second highest energy consumption of the 5 heating units.
We didn’t want to use it during the winter, because of its high energy consumption, we decided to wait until summer. Last month, we vented it through a window, got it all set up, turned it on and the lights didn’t come on. I contacted the manufacture as it has been less than one year. Here’s the reply from the manufacturer:
Dear Ms. Hu-
Thank you for your purchase of the Whynter SNO ARC-12H portable air conditioner. Please contact the retailer where you purchased the item form to obtain refund. We are only able to assist with service or warranty issues.

I called and got an answering machine.
I wrote again to say this IS a warranty issue. This is their response:
Dear Ms. Hu-
Thank you for your reply. We are only able to assist with service or warranty issues which means you can ship the air conditioner to us for service, repair or replacement but NOT refund. Since you purchased the air conditioner from a retailer but not us, we are not able to issue you any refund.
Again, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding to service, repair or replacement of your air conditioner.
Thank you.

This IS a warranty issue. The company we purchased it from told us to contact the manufacturer if we have problems more than 30 days after purchase. Since we bought in November last year, it has been more than 30 days.
Your Prompt Assistance in Processing a Refund is GREATLY APPRECIATED,
Charlotte
